Australian Physiotherapy Council (APC) - www.physiocouncil.com.au is a national standards advisory body for pre-registration physiotherapy education in Australia.  It accredits new and existing physiotherapy programs in Australian Universities, assesses overseas trained physiotherapists who wish to be registered to practise in Australia, advises Commonwealth Government agencies and Physiotherapists Registration Boards in Australia on legislative matters relevant to a consistent national approach to physiotherapy registration and is responsible for the oversight of the Australian Physiotherapy Competency Standards.

Its membership includes one nominee from each of the Physiotherapists Registration Boards, and one nominee each from the Australian Physiotherapy Association and the Schools of Physiotherapy in Australia.

APC overseas the Australian Examining Committee for Overseas Physiotherapists (AECOP) in its assessment of the qualifications of overseas-qualified physiotherapists seeking registration to practise in Australia.

The APA formulates ethics and policies for the profession and makes representations on its behalf to government and other bodies at national and State levels.

The APA offers professional development in specialisation, continuing eduction, clinical special groups, congresses and conferences.

South Australians can contact HCSCC when efforts to resolve a complaint directly would be unreasonable, or have been unsuccessful

HCSCC covers health and community services in the public, private and community sectors.

HCSCC encourages people – service users and service providers to resolve complaints directly, but there will be times when a HCSCC Complaint Resolution Officer may be able to assist, for example, HCSCC may be able to assist when there has been a major breakdown in communication.  Other aspects of HCSCC's role include looking for system-wide changes to make services safer and better, as well as reporting about complaint trends and issues.  The HCSCC functions and powers are detailed in the Health and Community Services Complaints Act 2004 (the H&CSC Act).
